The soon to be Western Circuit 
Gombe Stream National Park - 52 sq. km. On the eastern shores of Lake Tanganyika. Smallest national park in Tanzania. Natural home for chimpanzees. Dr. Jane Goodall research place on chimpanzees. Dense forest and safe for walking safaris. Close to Ujiji village - One of the oldest market villages in Africa. At Ujiji Morton Stanley met Dr. Livingstone.

Lake Tanganyika - Longest fresh water lake in the world and second deepest with more than 250 species of fish.

Mahale Mountains National Park. Home to wild chimpanzees. There are no roads. Game viewing is done on foot.

Katavi National Park. On a flood plain with two lakes - Lake Katavi surrounded by marshland and short-grass plains and Lake Chada. One can view elephants, buffalo, hippos, leopards, lions, and many different species of antelope. It is said to be the most difficult park to reach by vehicle. It offers challenges to those interested in walking safari adventure.
